Alex McRae

Alex is a first-year joint-degree candidate at the Yale School of Management (SOM) and the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (FES). He is passionate about the environment and committed to playing a role in the fight against climate change. At Yale, Alex’s work is focused on addressing the financial challenges and opportunities involving renewable energy. His fields of interest include energy policy, impact investing, and corporate sustainability.

Prior to Yale, Alex was an Environmental Engineer for the U.S. Army. In his most recent role, Alex was responsible for leading sustainable-development initiatives at Fort Carson, Colorado - a triple-net-zero-designated installation. He and his team worked to identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, water use, waste creation, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Alex is also the founder of Planet of AWE, Inc.; A 501(c)3 nonprofit environmental stewardship organization that serves local community members who strive to improve and enjoy nature’s most basic elements Air, Water, and Earth (www.planetofAWE.org).

Alex is a contributing writer at the Clean Energy Finance Forum, LEED Accredited Professional, Project Management Professional, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. He holds a degree in Engineering Management with a focus in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys exploring this world with his wife and two children.
